La Vie En Rose

Such a pretty picture, from One Love Photography. It just fills me with peaceful joy :) This is what I hope Matt and I will look like in 20 years. Happy and gorgeous! And they're not even the couple getting married! Go check out the rest of this cozy, yummy-looking wedding.

Oh! And I got an exciting email today! You may remember awhile back I posted about Julene's INCREDIBLE paper-cut work. Well she's got some laser-cut pieces freshly up in her etsy shop! For a fraction of the price of one of her original, hand-made numbers, you can have this gorgeousness all for yourself.

It's raining cats and dogs outside my window... but I'm feeling mellow and content. It's nice. We're heading down to my parent's house tonight, and tomorrow I'm taking Matt to see our venue (he's such a brave, trusting soul for taking my word and the pictures as proof of its awesomeness) - the one and only time I've ever seen it was on a rainy day, and now it looks like tomorrow will be more of the same. Hopefully this means mother nature is getting it all out of her system so that October 10 will be dry and sunny. Then on Sunday, my beautiful sister is throwing me a bridal shower!! I feel so lucky :)

Enjoy the weekend, and I'll be back on Monday!

oh my goodness, things are looking up

yes, it's true. i may be completely jinxing myself by writing about this, but i can't contain myself.

i think we might have a venue.

and a caterer.

that won't put us into debt.

and are still awesome.

keep your fingers and toes and eyes crossed please.

in other news, how great are these programs????
loving the colors. and the patterns. makes me almost reconsider my decision about programs (not doing them). Our ceremony (in the early stages of it's planning) is going to be very short and simple... programs might be a little too formal for us.
but they are so pretty.....

it must be tuesday

because i am writing a million posts.

i can't believe i've never seen this before, but holy-moley-freaking-what-the-dang-sweet-baby-jesus, this is easily one of the best things ever. top five. not to be superlative, but i am awed by the technical prowess it displays, and the sheer prettiness of it, and the quote! the perfect wonderful quote! just went right into my heart :)

run, don't walk, over to MadeByJulene to see more...... i am just floored by julene's work!

case in point:

REALLY??????? unbelievable.

i found these via the wonderful nest. now go look.

more invitations.....

oh wow, i found these yummy things this morning, from RIFLE:

basically, yeah. ours will have to be a little simpler (3 gallons of turquoise printer ink? not so much in the budget), but dang are these beautiful! and they capture the feeling i'm looking for perfectly. check out rifle's other stuff for sure..... so stinking awesome!!

also, i mentioned that we want to have people rsvp via phone and email/website - but i'm a little concerned about that being unwieldy..... anyone have any advice or words of wisdom about that?

rainy day in brooklyn town

*sigh* it's rainy and gloomy in nyc today (source).......

i stumbled on these today, and they cheered me up a bit:

aren't these invitations yummy?? i am so going to "borrow" the trifold and ribbon idea.... they're by Libby Smith, and i found them at once wed (who have an awesome new site design - check it out!).

also from once wed:

i don't know... it just made me happy.

tomorrow i'm going to the renegade craft fair in mccarren park with my dear friends patti and liz..... the poster alone is reason enough to get excited!!

it's sponsered in part by etsy, and there's gonna be a treats truck there, so you know it's going to be awesome :) they have them in LA, chicago, and san fran too, so check it out! i'll report back next week.....

stay dry and warm, new york!! happy weekend!!

wedding invitations

so we've decided to skip the save-the-dates. it just seemed like a lot of unnecessary money, paper, and time to waste. we're being a little more earth friendly and just doing invitations on the early side. i'm just making sure i let family, long distance peeps, and the bridal party know by phone or email that it's going to be on OCTOBER 10!! at least, unless something happens in the next couple of planning steps that makes that date impossible :)

so i'm trying to come up with ideas for the invitation. i've been searching online for inspiration, and after a while, they all start to kind of look the same..... i saw a cool indian-inspired letterpress invite, and it made me think.... our colors (more on colors later) have a coincedentally southwest/mexican flavor (yellow, orange, turquoise and white, essentially), so i thought, why not do something sort of mexican-folk-artsy? kind of along these lines:

the colors would be different, obviously, but the image is just what i was picturing.... by the way, this comes from a quilt made by one of my favorite etsy sellers, badbird.

what do you think?
